PrimoCAD Arrange Commands UI

Arrange allows you to precisely position objects in AutoCAD drawings. It enables you to align objects where the centers or edges of their bounding boxes are lined up to one another. It also enables you to distribute objects where they are equally spaced based on the centers or edges of their bounding boxes.

You can position objects systematically and precisely with respect to each other or to a specific reference point. In either case, the objects are lined up by the edges or centers of their bounding boxes horizontally or vertically.

1. Aligning Objects

1.1. Aligning objects relative to minimum x-coordinates

Align Min X (AMINX)

To align the minimum x-coordinate edges of the bounding boxes of objects, follow these steps:

  1. From the ribbon, choose Arrange tab ➪ Align panel ➪ Align Min X (you can also type the command AMINX in the command bar).
  2. At the Select control object or [Point]: prompt, select the object you want to use as a reference object, or choose the Point option.
  3. In case of choosing the Point option, at the Specify control point: prompt, pick a point you want to use as a reference point.
  4. At the Select objects for alignment: prompt, select objects you want to align then press Enter (or right-click).

1.2. Aligning objects relative to middle x-coordinates

Align Mid X (AMIDX)

To align the middle x-coordinate edges of the bounding boxes of objects, follow these steps:

  1. From the ribbon, choose Arrange tab ➪ Align panel ➪ Align Mid X (you can also type the command AMIDX in the command bar).
  2. At the Select control object or [Point]: prompt, select the object you want to use as a reference object, or choose the Point option.
  3. In case of choosing the Point option, at the Specify control point: prompt, pick a point you want to use as a reference point.
  4. At the Select objects for alignment: prompt, select objects you want to align then press Enter (or right-click).

1.3. Aligning objects relative to maximum x-coordinates

Align Max X (AMAXX)

To align the maximum x-coordinate edges of the bounding boxes of objects, follow these steps:

  1. From the ribbon, choose Arrange tab ➪ Align panel ➪ Align Max X (you can also type the command AMAXX in the command bar).
  2. At the Select control object or [Point]: prompt, select the object you want to use as a reference object, or choose the Point option.

2. Distributing Objects

2.1. Distributing objects relative to minimum x-coordinates

Distribute Min X (DMINX)

To distribute the minimum x-coordinate edges of the bounding boxes of objects, follow these steps:

  1. From the ribbon, choose Arrange tab ➪ Distribute panel ➪ Distribute Min X (you can also type the command DMINX in the command bar).
  2. At the Select objects for distribution: prompt, select objects you want to distribute then press Enter (or right-click).

2.2. Distributing objects relative to middle x-coordinates

  1. From the ribbon, choose Arrange tab ➪ Distribute panel ➪ Distribute Spacing X (you can also type the command DSX in the command bar).
  2. At the Select objects for distribution: prompt, select objects you want to distribute then press Enter (or right-click).

2.5. Distributing objects relative to minimum y-coordinates

3. Displacing Objects

3.1. Displacing objects in x-direction

Displace X (DIX)

To displace objects in x-direction, follow these steps:

  1. From the ribbon, choose Arrange tab ➪ Displace panel ➪ Displace X (you can also type the command DIX in the command bar).
  2. At the Select control object: prompt, select the object you want to use as a reference object.
  3. At the Select objects for displacement: prompt, select objects you want to displace then press Enter (or right-click).
  4. At the Specify displacement: prompt, enter your desired amount of spacing between objects. (you can also specify it directly on the screen)

3.2. Displacing objects in y-direction

Displace Y (DIY)

To displace objects in y-direction, follow these steps:

  1. From the ribbon, choose Arrange tab ➪ Displace panel ➪ Displace Y (you can also type the command DIY in the command bar).
  2. At the Select control object: prompt, select the object you want to use as a reference object.
  3. At the Select objects for displacement: prompt, select objects you want to displace then press Enter (or right-click).
  4. At the Specify displacement: prompt, enter your desired amount of spacing between objects. (you can also specify it directly on the screen)

3.3. Displacing objects in z-direction

Displace Z (DIZ)

To displace objects in z-direction, follow these steps:

  1. From the ribbon, choose Arrange tab ➪ Displace panel ➪ Displace Z (you can also type the command DIZ in the command bar).
  2. At the Select control object: prompt, select the object you want to use as a reference object.
  3. At the Select objects for displacement: prompt, select objects you want to displace then press Enter (or right-click).
  4. At the Specify displacement: prompt, enter your desired amount of spacing between objects. (you can also specify it directly on the screen)

4. Attracting Objects

4.1. Attracting objects relative to x-coordinates

Attract X (ATX)

To attract the x-coordinate edges of the bounding boxes of objects, follow these steps:

  1. From the ribbon, choose Arrange tab ➪ Attract panel ➪ Attract X (you can also type the command ATX in the command bar).
  2. At the Select control object or [Point]: prompt, select the object you want to use as a reference object, or choose the Point option.
  3. In case of choosing the Point option, at the Specify control point: prompt, pick a point you want to use as a reference point.
  4. At the Select objects for attraction: prompt, select objects you want to attract then press Enter (or right-click).
  5. At the Attraction mode: [Predecessors/Successors] prompt, select the Predecessors option if you want the objects to be attracted before the control object or point, or select the Successors option if you want the objects to be attracted after the control object or point.

4.2. Attracting objects relative to y-coordinates

Attract Y (ATY)

To attract the y-coordinate edges of the bounding boxes of objects, follow these steps:

  1. From the ribbon, choose Arrange tab ➪ Attract panel ➪ Attract Y (you can also type the command ATY in the command bar).
  2. At the Select control object or [Point]: prompt, select the object you want to use as a reference object, or choose the Point option.
  3. In case of choosing the Point option, at the Specify control point: prompt, pick a point you want to use as a reference point.
  4. At the Select objects for attraction: prompt, select objects you want to attract then press Enter (or right-click).
  5. At the Attraction mode: [Predecessors/Successors] prompt, select the Predecessors option if you want the objects to be attracted before the control object or point, or select the Successors option if you want the objects to be attracted after the control object or point.

4.3. Attracting objects relative to z-coordinates

  5. At the Attraction mode: [Predecessors/Successors] prompt, select the Predecessors option if you want the objects to be attracted before the control object or point, or select the Successors option if you want the objects to be attracted after the control object or point.

5. In-Place

5.1. Rotating objects relative to their own center points

Rotate In-Place (RIPL)

To rotate objects around their center points, follow these steps:

  1. From the ribbon, choose Arrange tab ➪ In-Place panel ➪ Rotate In-Place (you can also type the command RIPL in the command bar).
  2. At the Select objects for rotation in place: prompt, select the objects you want to rotate then press Enter (or right-click).
  3. At the Enter rotation angle: prompt, enter the rotation angle in decimal degrees then press Enter (or right-click).

5.2. Scaling objects relative to their own center points

Scale In-Place (SIPL)

To scale objects around their center points, follow these steps:

  1. From the ribbon, choose Arrange tab ➪ In-Place panel ➪ Scale In-Place (you can also type the command SIPL in the command bar).
  2. At the Select objects for scaling in place: prompt, select the objects you want to scale then press Enter (or right-click).
  3. At the Enter scale factor: prompt, enter the scale factor then press Enter (or right-click).
